Kavitha Bhat Schelbert, MD,
MS, CAPRICORN Director
Dr. Schelbert is a graduate of Northwestern University and Northwestern University Medical School. She completed her residency at Emory University School of Medicine, and later received an MS in Clinical Investigations from the University of Iowa. Dr. Bhat Schelbert is
currently serving as CAPRICORN Director, an Assistant Professor in
the Department of Family Medicine at Georgetown University Medical
Center, and a private clinician at Potomac Physician Associates in
Maryland. Her personal research interests include behavior change,
obesity management, community-based research, preventive medicine, and physical exam skills.
Haewon Park, MPH, CAPRICORN Coordinator
Haewon Park is graduate of James
Madison University and George Washington University, where she
earned an MPH. In the past, she worked with a private company
developing interactive health education materials for health care
providers and patients. After joining the Department of Family
Medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center, she served as
DRINK Study Assistant Project Manager. Currently, Haewon assists
in various aspects of the SIPPY and MILK Studies (including
recruitment and managing data) and serves as both CAPRICORN
Coordinator and liaison to the IRB and DSMB.
Dino W. Ramzi, MD, MPH
Dr. Ramzi has been CCI's Medical Director since March 2005. He
graduated from McGill University and completed his MPH at Emory
University's Rollins School of Public Health with concentrations
in both Management and Outcomes and is a member of Delta Omega,
the Public Health Honor Society. He is a Board Certified Fellow of
Family Medicine in both Canada and the United States and has
served minority populations most of his career. Dr. Ramzi's
interests include primary care transformation and outcomes
management.
CCI has a 34 year history of serving homeless, indigent, uninsured
and low-income individuals in Montgomery County. It is the largest
provider of such services in the county and currently sees
approximately 25,000 visits a year. Dr. Ramzi has overseen
the recent expansion of services into Mental Health and
Obstetrics, the opening of a fourth health center in Rockville, an
ongoing EMR implementation and the maturation of the PI program.
Sallie Rixey, MD, MEd
Dr. Rixey
is the Program Director of the Department of Family Medicine at
Franklin Square Hospital Center. Dr. Rixey graduated
from William Jewell College and completed her MEd at Kansas State
Teachers College. She received her MD and completed her
family medicine residency at the University of
Kansas School of Medicine. Her areas of interest include
substance abuse, domestic violence, chronic pain, dermatology,
faculty development, philanthropy, international health and health
care reform.
Asha Parvati
Subramanian, MD, MPH, MA
Dr. Subramanian joined Community of Hope as the medical director
in September 2006. In addition to serving as clinical director,
Dr. Subramanian also sees patients of all ages, including prenatal
patients. She has particular interests in patient education,
health literacy, health policy, behavioral health, and access to
health care for underserved communities. Dr. Subramanian graduated
from Stanford University with a bachelors and masters in
psychology, and received her medical degree and Masters of Public
Health from the Oregon Health and Science University. She
completed her family medicine residency at the St. Margaret
Hospital, University of Pittsburgh Medical Centers, where she was
chosen as the Best Resident Teacher by the intern class. Dr.
Subramanian completed a fellowship in Community Health Center
Director Development through the Georgetown University Department
of Family Medicine.
