CAPRICORN is supported by the Department of Family Medicine of the Georgetown University School of Medicine, which strengthens its capacity for protocol developments and human subjects. As part of the network, clinician members can participate in research activities as researchers or as subjects of research. Research ideas and study protocols can be generated by any network members.
CAPRICORN is supported by the primary care units of Georgetown University School of Medicine, which strengthens its capacity for protocol developments and human subjects review. A steering Committee of practitioners participating in the network decide which research studies to pursue. Furthermore, every member chooses whether to participate in any particular study.
CAPRICORN also derives support from and provides input to a number of external organizations including the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Federation of Practice-based Research Networks, and the larger Georgetown research community.

The CAPRICORN Board of Directors is responsible for surveying the interests of network practitioners; prioritizing research topics; reviewing protocols; implementing recommendations from the Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) and Institutional Review Board (IRB); working to enhance the success of current research studies; and overseeing the submission of material for publishing or outside review.
CAPRICORN is in the process of organizing a Community Advisory Board to review study protocols and serve as a liaison between CAPRICORN practitioners and the greater Washington DC community. We are currently looking for community members to serve on this board. If interested, please email Haewon Park, Network Coordinator, at hp47@georgetown.edu for more information.
